Zorion was delivered late to deny the game Allegio in the Listed Glencairn Stakes at Leopardstown this evening.

Six went to post in this one mile contest.

Zorion was the early leader, but with a furlong covered, Allegio led from Belle Boyd and Zorion.

Leaving the back, Allegio, next to the rails, led Belle Boyd and Mamba Noire.

Allegio turned for home with a length advantage, but Belle Boyd came to deliver his challenge with a furlong to race.

However, Allegio battled back stubbornly to see off that Godolphin rival, only for Zorion to take up the mantle of main challenger.

Once again, Allegio fought back, but Zorion and Kevin Manning, just got up close home for a narrow victory, with Belle Boyd taking third.

The Jim Bolger trained Zorion, a four year-old son of Smart Strike, had finished unplaced in a Curragh handicap last time out.
