Hit The Bid showed much improved form to win the Listed Midsummer Sprint Stakes at Cork this afternoon.

A field of ten lined-up for this five furlong dash.

At the off it was Yulong Baobei who showed good early speed to lead Monsieur Joe.

Yulong Baobei and Abstraction took the field along but at the two furlong pole Hit The Bid made his move and went on.

Hit The Bid passed the furlong pole ahead of Abstraction but the final challenge came from the far side and Go Kart.

However, Leigh Roche pushed out Hit The Bid to get home comfortably enough here from Go Kart in second, with Alphabet just getting up for third ahead of Abstraction.

The Darren Bunyan trained three year old Hit The Bid had won a Group 3 contest last year, but shown little in three subsequent starts. He was paying a compliment to Muthmir who beat him in France last time out.
